Toyota SA gets the wheels turning at Bredasdorp Park

From left: Dirk Uys (Director: Bredasdorp Park); Henk Aggenbach (Chairman: Bredasdorp Park); Andries de Villiers (Head of Trade: Rola Toyota Bredasdorp); Chystal van Wyk (Business Manager: Bredasdorp Park); Henty Groenewald (Senior Regional Manager: West Coast, Toyota SA)

Toyota SA handed over two Toyota Hilux pickups to the board of Bredasdorp Park NPC on 17 March 2021 for use in the operation of the park and for the purposes of marketing Bredasdorp Park and Nampo Cape.

Although Nampo Cape could not take place in 2020 due to the Covid-19 restrictions, several new projects were undertaken at Bredasdorp Park.

Henk Aggenbach, the Chairperson of the Bredasdorp Park NPC Board, explains, “Bredasdorp Park wants to give back to the community and contribute to sustainability. We want to help the people of our area to process the products grown in the district into a marketable product. ”

The hydroponic / aquaponic tunnel project is a training centre operated in collaboration with Stellenbosch University and Two Oceans Waters. The first training session was held in November 2020, with this group appointed to work in the tunnels. Vegetables are already being produced and marketed.

A wool processing project has also recently launched where people are trained to process the wool, which is produced in the Overberg. It involves the washing, carding and spinning of wool which can then be converted into marketable products.

The two Hilux Toyota pickups donated by Toyota SA to Bredasdorp Park NPC.

Toyota SA made the decision in 2019 to become involved with Nampo Cape and this sponsorship forms part of the long-term commitment. Henty Groenewald, Senior Regional Manager, West Coast Region of Toyota SA says, “This is a fantastic opportunity for Toyota SA to get involved with Bredasdorp Park NPC and Nampo Cape. Respect for people is a core principle for Toyota, and what we observed at Nampo Cape endorses that principle. ”

Nampo Cape 2021 will take place from 8 – 11 September, at Bredasdorp Park, subject to the Covid-19 regulations allowing it at that stage.
